PRAISE FOR N. A. Battaglia's Horror
4.5 OUT OF 5 – “Variety is the spice of life and this anthology is no exception. The stories run the gamut of styles and themes and I enjoyed all of them, some more than others. Some standouts were Stepmothers by Victoria Dalpe, didn’t see that coming, Marcy’s Diary by Gerri R Gray, very reminiscent of old school R.L. Stine or Christopher Pike, Remnants of Worship by Marvin Brown, reminded me of Barker for some reason very good story, The Deception of Fairies by N. A. Battaglia, enjoyed the old school mythos of Fairies in the work, and Crust-areas by Craig Bullock, that one was fun and twisted. All in all I definitely recommend a purchase folks. 4.5 out of 5 stars.” – AMAZON REVIEWER
4 OUT OF 5 – “A meaty collection of gore, supernatural, and cosmic horror . . . The Deception of Fairies by N A Battaglia – I loved the descriptions of the sky, light, and shadows in this tale.” – GOODREADS REVIEWER
5 OUT OF 5 – “Disturbing and truly horrific stories, some of people doing terrible things to others, and some of people having terrible things done to them. Many of the tales are gory, but there’s nothing too extreme (disclaimer, I can be a bit of a sicko who enjoys splatter-punk). There are some real creepy insidious tales, and those where the pain creeps off the page making you wince with imagined torture.
These are real nightmare fodder. I thoroughly recommend this as a bedtime read.” – GOODREADS REVIEWER
5 OUT OF 5 – “Any anthology from Hellbound Books is sure to please, and this one is no exception. The first two stories are fantastic, digging in quickly and entrenching the reader in some true macabre. The other stories are all great too, but these first two and the story about the deception of fairies—with a hook start, grim twist, and truly horrifying ending—were our favorites (all I keep think about are those yellow eyes at night, like when I walk my dog and my flashlight hits another animal—or what I think is an animal…). Overall this is a must-buy for any true horror fan, and at the time of writing this, in less than a month since publication it is already in the top 100 on Amazon for horror anthologies. A fantastic entry to your collection!” – AMAZON REVIEWER
4 OUT OF 5 – “This is an eclectic ensemble of horror stories, which vary from historical to abstract. Horror fans are sure to find what they are looking for, no matter what their taste may be. Some of the stories are quick bites, while others are full meals. I personally prefer a quick bite, like a killer being tormented by his victims while fishing. All in all, these stories are pure, clean horror.” – AMAZON REVIEWER
5 OUT OF 5 – “Bloody Good Horror is the title in front of you. And yes, it is, bloody good. Amazing stories. Dread inducing. Some stories guaranteed you should not read before bedtime unless your forte is nightmares. The true art to any book and horror has its arts is the ability to grab you by its tentacles. Bloody Good Horror does that. The topic to this book is let horror take its course and write the best story bringing in the extremes and the discomfort zones. A lot of anthologies will leave you with a that story was a meh idea. I never felt that with this book. Dive into the words and feel them. See the scenes. Travel down the pathways of hell the characters are doomed to follow. My only question is: were these stories found in a book of human skin, blessed by evil? Nice idea, but no. These many stories are the work of dedicated writers bringing in their own kind of horror and the work of Theresa Scott-Matthews in her dark judgements as to being bloody good horror. I bow to the writers who put their time in dark creations and to the emanations of terror. And kudos to the editor – excellent choices. Do read this book. The warning goes you can only read so many of them at one time or face crazy town. But do read the stories.” – GOODREADS REVIEWER
