Praise for n. a. battaglia's story

5 OUT OF 5 – “Great set of short horror stories that are chilling and have some great concepts. The first one has a nice twist which sets the tone for the rest of the book. Some stories draw on fears and daily life (I cannot tell you how many times kitchen cabinets have been left open in our house and we don’t remember doing it–one story gave us chills about that phenomenon and we are legit afraid at night to get water now), while other stories make you think twice about seeing a shadow on a wall (or was it two). These stories were our favorites: Etched in Stone and A Visitor’s Return Prank.

We also liked: Demon Water, Obedience by Possession, The Little Pink Playhouse, The Barbecue, and The Seance.

We liked that many of the stories were short and quick to the point, most of them starting right in action with a hooking opening line, or thrusting readers right into the issue. Some anthologies have longer horror stories that really take a long time to set up and then deliver, which are fine, but sometimes it is nice to have a book to read that gets right to the horrifying part in a hurry.

No real gore or over violent stories (some but not overdone), making them a little tamer than other anthologies. But that is a nice switch-up because most of these stories rely on paranormal, demonic, and supernatural events or plots, which can more easily creep into your real life than just the run-of-the-mill slasher or fear from pure gore. Some stories are on the darker side of horror, including the barn story, barbecue, and the demon’s cutting board story, which might not be for everyone but true horror fans.

Overall, worth purchasing and adding to your collection or reading on Kindle Unlimited. Most of these stories hit a tone with you that will carry over, while others will make you think twice about certain aspects of your life. Don’t expect a perfect book or a Barker/King/Tremblay book, but expect some really solid horror stories and plots that are unique and exciting–some real keepers here.

Age would be the same as the famous “Scary Stories” and “More Scary Stories” series of books, which I think is around late middle school or early high school. This book would also be appropriate for that age, or a younger horror fan that parents may feel appropriate. Best for parents to always read first before giving to a child.” – AMAZON REVIEWER

5 OUT OF 5 – “I’m a fan or short stories, especially in the horror genre and I’m definitely a fan of this book! I love how this collection showcases a wide variety of authors, yet each story flows with the same easy, fun, descriptive and chilling language. You can get a whole story read in a few minutes or read the entire book in one sitting. Well done!” – AMAZON REVIEWER
